Honest Repose

I had sworn to live alone; I knew that would be best for everyone. Yet to my surprise, I found people strange enough to try and involve themselves with me. Their kindness was almost too much for me to bear.

I was guilty of great crimes, and had no right to their kindness. But the darkness in my mind was no match for the warmth in their hearts. They accepted me, saying my past—and my power—were part of me.

I was afraid I would hurt them—and as soon as I started thinking about how I didn't want to lose them, the fear grew even worse. But they paid my fear no mind, and took my twisted fingers without hesitation.

I found myself wanting to be with them— and wanting to be with humans was a feeling I had long forgotten.

I couldn't tell them directly how I felt, but I'm certain my expression revealed what words could not. Yet as this is an event to tell those you care about how you feel, I suppose it is somehow right.
