A Widow's Lament

Now you are gone, but I remain. Alone. I cannot accept that reality, and so here I wait. Unmoving. Barely breathing. With a gentle rain staining my face.

Rain falls incessantly, chilling my bones. I want only to stand here until I can no longer feel. And yet, as I sense the cold of his blade against my still-warm self, I feel a tear escape from my eye.

My heart hurts. It bleeds. It aches. But then, the rain pouring down my face slowly comes to an end, and I recall his words: "All rain stops eventually."

I hate this life of mine, I hate the feeling of the sun against my skin. I hate the warmth. You say that all rain stops, but does that mean the rain in my heart will do so also? Will I ever know joy and happiness again?

I will never be saved from this pain, for I can not forget him. I must go to his side, and so I set off alone along this warm, sunlit path...
